Debbie Langley, BPharm NHN NHCBPharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy)NHN (Diploma in Natural Health and Nutrition)NHC (Diploma in Natural Health Counselling)Graduating as a pharmacist from Pretoria University I
worked in the Retail pharmacy industry for a number of
years. During this time I realised that most of my
clients were returning month after month to fill their
prescriptions and that many of them were never actually
improving their conditions at all. They had merely become
pill-poppers, and as time progressed many were simply
adding more and more pills to their daily regime to
counter-react the many side-effects of their original
prescriptions. I had set out on a career path to help
people get better and had merely become a role player in
their disease management. Disillusioned by the number of
people making recoveries from various diseases my journey
to natural health began. I am firstly a pharmacist and believe
that traditional medicine does have its place but contrary to
popular belief, you don't have to live the rest of your life
in pain or on medication. You can reverse disease, reduce
high blood pressure, lose weight, lower your cholesterol
levels, prevent heart disease and cancer ,and improve
your health without relying on drugs as the first line of
treatment.
During my first year of varsity I came across "The Natural
Way" in one of my weekly visits to Exclusive Books. I
devoured the book quickly within the first few days. I
immediately put the 5-Steps into practise and reaped
rewards. I quickly realised that my moods and my feeling
of well being were directly related to how I was feeling and
how I felt was directly related to what I was putting down my
throat. As part of society these general feelings of well-being
soon fell by the wayside as I was once again consumed by
the habits of everyone around me, habits accepted as normal
and the feelings accompanying them soon buried the
exhuberant feelings I had once had. After the birth of my 2nd
daughter Kelsey who was plagued with runny noses every
morning of her life (we definately kept Kleenex in business for
a few years), I was determined to find a natural alternative and
not subject her to bright red decongestant down her throat
everyday. My family journey to natural health began.
